Three decades ago conservatives were in a funk. In post-Watergate, post-Vietnam America, liberal Democrats controlled the White House and Congress by nearly a 2-to-1 margin, leading to a weak economy and a weak foreign policy that emboldened Iranian Islamic extremists and a Soviet invasion.

In 1977, a 66-year-old former Governor, twice defeated in the Republican primary for president, could have ridden off into the sunset and enjoyed retirement on the ranch with his wife.

I’m glad Ronald Reagan didn’t do that. I’m glad he continued to believe in the power of his ideas – limited government, lower taxes, a strong national defense, strong families and protection for innocent life. America today is more safe, more free and more prosperous because of President Reagan’s commitment to these core principles.

Now it is our time to decide. Do we want our children and grandchildren to live in a world that is peaceful, free and prosperous? Or should we just concede the future to leaders who will demand more of our money and our freedom at home, while weakening our commitment to protection from enemies abroad?

I hope you will stand with us in these critical times as we promote the conservative principles of Ronald Reagan and encourage conservatives to stay engaged in the political process.
