PRO-PAC Mission

Ronald Reagan created the sweeping and lasting political revolution that bears his name by doing one very profound thing: he made the Founding Fathers’ vision of a people-led government understandable in a modern and complex world. Often today we reduce those principles down to slogans, but to be Reaganesque, we must understand that any responsibility government removes from the individual weakens not only the individual’s liberty, but also the effectiveness of the state.

We must believe again in the power of our ideas. We must be willing to explain and articulate them. And we must have Reagan’s optimism and faith that a fully informed American electorate will choose candidates who represent family, faith and freedom. That is why I founded PRO-PAC, which stands for Principled Reaganesque Outcomes Political Action Committee.

PRO-PAC exists to advance nine crucial Reagan principles using a three-part strategy:

  1. Educate officials, potential candidates and citizens about the conservative message of President Reagan.
  2. Make independent expenditures to help elect Reagan Republicans in 2008 and beyond. As an independent expenditure committee, there is no dollar limit to the resources we can bring to a race as needed.
  3. Expand the base of the Republican Party in Arizona and encourage many additional thoughtful conservatives to get involved at the grassroots level.

At PRO-PAC we believe it is time to unify around the principles of Ronald Reagan. These very principles transformed a weary and discouraged nation and restored hope to the American people when President Reagan took office, and they can do so once again. While the Republican Party suffered defeat in 2006, this was in no way an indictment on the conservative movement. In fact, Republicans lost in 2006 precisely because the Party was no longer perceived as representing conservative values.

At the same time we promote Reaganesque principles, we must be careful to do so with the good humor and civility that marked Ronald Reagan’s political career. We must avoid demonizing political opponents and look for areas of agreement, while recognizing that someone who agrees with us on seven or eight of our principles is our ally, not our enemy. The goal is to persuade political opponents with our ideas, not destroy them with our words. That goes for all political opponents, including liberal Democrats, but is especially significant as it relates to fellow Republicans who at times stray from Reaganesque principles.

In the face of an ever aggressive and increasingly out-of-touch Democratic Party, our best hope for victory in 2008 and beyond rests in uniting with other Republicans around the principles embodied by our nation’s 40th President.
